Students will implement the elements and principles of design to effectively compose black and white drawings, primarily with charcoal. Students will construct accurate observational drawings utilizing linear perspective, alignments, measurements, and shading techniques to create the illusion of three- dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface. Students will develop a well-presented portfolio that exemplifies the overall development of student’s observational and expressive drawing skills. Students will demonstrate an understanding of fundamental art vocabulary in the execution of their original drawings and through participation in group critiques in which they verbally analyze and evaluate their work and their peers’ work.
