PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM The Practical Nursing (PN) Program prepares the individuals to assist in providing general nursing care requiring basic knowledge of the biological, physical, behavioral, psychological, and sociological science and of nursing procedures which do not require the skills, judgment, and knowledge required of a registered nurse. This care is performed under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), licensed physician, or licensed dentist. Students who complete program requirements, as identified by the Mississippi Community College Board, will be eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical/Vocational NursesĀ® (NCLEX-PNĀ®). The graduate of the program functions as a provider of care and a member of a profession. The State Board of Nursing may, in its discretion, refuse to accept the application of any person who has been convicted of a criminal offense under any provision of the Title 97 of the Mississippi Code of 1972, as now or hereafter amended.
