PNV1412-ADVANCEDPRACTICALNURSING - This coursewill provide the studentwith the basic knowledge and skills to provide safe, effective care for clients and families during the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and infancy through adolescent periods; and clients and families experiencing mental health alterations. This courser will also include preparation for the role transition from student to practical nurse. (12 scheduled: 10.33 hr. lecture, 5 hr. clinical) (Total instructional hours for the combined course: 155 hr. lecture, 75 clinical). PNV 1442 — NURSING FUNDAMENTALS AND CLINICAL — This course provides the student with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to care for the individual in wellness and illness and is applicable across the life span, as well as demonstration and supervised practice of the fundamental skills related to practical nursing. Six lecture hours, Eight lab hours, Six clinical hours. Twelve semester credit hours. PNV 1523 – IV THERAPY AND PHARMACOLOGY - This course provides the student with principles of IV therapy and pharmacology. Principles covered in the course include the administration of medication, administration of IV fluids, and administration of IV medications included in the scope of practice for the practical nurse. The expanded role of IV therapy included in this course is in accordance with the Mississippi Nursing Practice Law and Administrative Code. Three lecture hours. Three semester hours credit. PNV 1442 — NURSING FUNDAMENTALS AND CLINICAL — This course provides the student with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to care for the individual in wellness and illness and is applicable across the life span, as well as demonstration and supervised practice of the fundamental skills related to practical nursing. SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY SUT 1111 — CST PREP I — First semester review and preparation for the certified surgical technology (CST) exam. This course also will provide instruction related to employment and employee responsibility to promote an effective transition from the role of the student to the role of the employee (One semester hour credit. One hour lecture. SUT 1113—FUNDAMENTALS OF SURGICALTECHNOLOGY—Basic introductory course including hospital and surgical suite organization and environment, history, legal responsibilities, terminology, pharmacology, anesthesia, and interpersonal relationships. Three hours lecture. Three semester hours credit. SUT 1121 — CST PREP II — Second semester review and preparation for the certified surgical technology (CST) exam. This course also will provide instruction related to employment and employee responsibility to promote an effective transition from the role of the student to the role of the employee. One semester credit hour. One hour lecture. SUT 1131 — CST PREP III — Third semester review and preparation for the certified surgical technology (CST) exam. This course also will provide instruction related to employment and employee responsibility to promote an effective transition from the role of the student to the role of the employee. One semester credit hour. One hour lecture. SUT 1216 — PRINCIPLES OF SURGICAL TECHNIQUE — Acomprehensive study of aseptic technique, safe patient care, and surgical techniques. Two hours lecture. Eight hours lab. Six semester hours credit. SUT 1314 — SURGICAL ANATOMY — Emphasis is placed on structure and function of the human body as related to surgery. Application of the principles of surgical anatomy to participation in clinical experience. Three hours lecture. Two hours lab. Four semester hours credit. SUT 1413 — SURGICAL MICROBIOLOGY — Introduction to pathogenic microorganisms related to surgery and their effect on wound healing and infection. Includes principles of sterilization and disinfection. Three hours lecture. Three semester hours credit. SUT 1518 — BASICAND RELATED SURGICAL PROCEDURES — This course includes instruction in regional anatomy, pathology, instrumentation, and surgical techniques in general, gynecology, obstetrics, urology, and diagnostic procedures.
