Men’s Basketball The Warrior basketball team, also under the direction of a first-year coach in Dylan Shields, had a very success ful season as the team finished 15-12 overall. The Warriors had many exciting, nail-biting victories, including an 89-87 overtime victory over Jones College and an 89-82 win over Northeast to close out the regular season. The Warriors earned a playoff berth but fell to the Pearl River in Poplarville in the first round, 90-79, to close out the year. Tai’Reon Joseph led the Warriors in scoring as he netted a staggering 678 points on the year, the most in the MACCC. His stellar shooting from three point range landed Joseph First Team All-MACCC honors. Softball Coach Leigh White led the Lady Warriors in 2023 including a 4-3 win over Northwest, a 7-6 win over Itawamba, and a 7-4 win over Holmes. In the playoffs on the campus of Jones College the Lady Warriors dropped the first game to Gulf Coast in a tight 6-4 matchup, but bounced back and walked off Holmes, 5-4, to keep the season alive. The Lady Warriors fell to Northwest in the final game of the year, 8-0. Meadow Villar led the Warriors at the plate with a .434 batting average and 14 home runs. Janci Aube posted a .379 average, while Emmi Harkins had a .357 average and 13 long-balls. Mckinleigh “Rae Rae” Evans, Caroline Jackson, and Emily Collins all split time in the pitch ing circle for ECCC throughout the year with Collins’ 108 strikeouts leading the team. Villar, Harkins, and Aube all earned All-MACCC recognition with Villar and Harkins being tabbed First Team selec tions and Aube earning Second Team honors. Golf After facing the unbelievable heart ache of the sudden passing of ECCC to a 30-24 over all record and a playoff berth as the No. 10 seed. the Lady Rangers, 3-0. Jade Brown was ECCC’s leading scorer on the season with six goals and seven assists, while Kara Wager was next in line with three. Allie Trager handled keeper duties for the Lady Warriors and posted 37 saves. ECCC’s Torrance Rouchon and Juliana Wells both earned All-MACCC honors with Rouchon being tabbed Second Team and Wells picking up Honorable Mention recognition. The Lady Warriors closed out the year 8-7-2 overall. Men’s Soccer The Warrior soccer team was led by second-year coach Ethan Paschal in 2022 and finished the year 5-7 overall. The Warriors saw big wins in the regular season with a 4-0 victory over North west, a 2-0 shutout against Southwest, a 3-2 win over Meridian, and a 5-2 win over Hinds. The Warriors efforts on the pitch landed the team the No. 6 seed in the playoffs setting up a contest with Pearl River in Poplarville. ECCC would ultimately drop that match, 3-0, to cap off the year. Evan Reape was the biggest threat for the Warriors offense. Reape posted eight goals on the season, including a four-goal game against Northwest. His play landed him Honorable Mention All-MACCC recognition. Noah Shockley was also named All-MACCC Honorable Mention as a defender. Women’s Basketball The Lady War

ing a 4th place finish in the first event of the season. After a 7th place finish in the MACCC Championship, ECCC’s Gage Miller qualified for the NJCAA Gulf District Tournament as an individual. The sophomore was the low-scoring, non-qualified individual of the event and earned a bid to the NJCAA DII National Championship in Plymouth, Indiana. Miller finished tied for 91st on the national stage. Men’s Tennis The East Central men’s team had a new face leading the team in 2023 as Dylan Barnett took over as head coach. The Warriors finished the season 4-12 overall and 4-6 in conference play, including a big, 6-3, win over Co-Lin early in the year. In the Region Tourna ment the No. 7 seeded Warriors fell in the opening round, 5-0 to Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Warriors picked up an at-large bid into the NJCAA DI Tennis National Championship in McKinney, Texas. In Texas, the Warriors had a strong outing finishing in 18th place overall with 10 points, the fourth-high est ranking among MACCC schools. Women’s Tennis The Lady Warrior tennis team, under the direction of first-year coach Dylan Barnett, closed out the regular season 8-8 overall. The team entered the NJCAA Region 23 tournament as the No. 6 seed but fell to Meridian in the open ing round. After the impressive regular season, the Lady Warriors earned an at-large bid to the NJCAA DI Tennis National Championship in Tyler, Texas. The Lady Warriors played some fierce competition in Texas and picked up 8.5 team points which ended ECCC’s season tied for 19th place overall in the 29 team field.

the season and finished the year 7-16 overall with big victories over Holmes and Northwest. Kennedee Shelton was the Lady War riors leading scorer with 211 points on the year, while Kaedre Denson poured in 187 and posted a team-high 104 rebounds.
