ECCC made the 720 mile trek to Enid, Oklahoma in late May and dropped two contests to South eastern Iowa and Frederick Community College to close out the historic season. The Warrior baseball team finished the year ranked No. 8 in the final NJCAA national poll after posting an overall record of 37-20 and 23-5 in conference play. ECCC was led at the plate by sophomore captain Eli Collins with a .411 batting average and a .534 on-base percentage. Ramie Harrison fol lowed with a .368 batting average, while Mo Little led the team in both RBIs and home runs with 70 runs driven in and 12 homers. On the mound, Grant Edwards led ECCC with 62 strikeouts through 47 innings pitched with a 3.80 ERA, while Mason Willis fanned 59 batters over 71 frames. Little was named NJCAA Second Team All-American. Little and Collins both closed out the year with First Team All-MACCC honors and NJCAA All-Region 23 recognition, while Ed wards earned Second Team All-MACCC. The Warriors were led by Gabriel Lar ry and Landon Sims at the quarterback position. Larry finished the season with 560 passing yards and four touchdowns and 348 rushing yards. Sims posted three scores and 357 yards through the Football The East Central Community Col lege football program closed out an era in 2022 as long-time head coach Ken Karcher announced his retirement dur ing the season. Karcher led the program for 10 seasons, twice earning MACCC coach of the year honors. Despite the losing record for the War riors in 2022, the team battled to the end of the season and showed a tremen dous amount of grit and determination. ECCC closed out the season with a 0-9 record overall, with that record ulti mately changing to 1-8 after Coahoma forfeited the season opener due to ineligible athletes. ECCC had several close contests with one-possession losses to Holmes, Hinds, Jones, and Southwest.

Ryan Joiner, the East Central Commu nity College Lady Warriors were once again playoff contenders after a suc cessful season. The Lady Warriors hit a rough patch in mid-September with several close losses and a pair of draws with Northwest and Gulf Coast, how ever, the Lady Warriors bounced back in October with three straight MACCC wins to close out the regular season with victories over Meridian, Hinds, and Itawamba. Playoffs were set up differently in 2022 for soccer as the MACCC no longer has north and south divisions. Each team played every MACCC opponent one time during the season with points awarded for a win or draw. The overall winner earned a bye into the tourna ment, while teams seeded two through seven took part in the play-in games at the higher seed’s home venue. As the No. 6 seed, the Lady Warriors traveled to Senatobia to take on North west in the opening round, but fell to

tackles, five and a half tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. Treyon Wash had three interceptions and 62 tack les, while Jaylin Thompson had two interceptions and 39 tackles. Wash and Thompson’s work in the second ary earned the pair post-season hon ors as Wash was named Second Team All-MACCC and Thompson was named Honorable Mention.
