Norcross served 22 years in the Navy prior to his 24 years as automotive instructor for East Central. His passion in life was caring for all animals. Former Instructor Dr. Linda Moore Lane , age 80, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in Brandon. Dr. Lane was a graduate of Millsaps College and held a Master of Arts in French and Spanish from Louisiana State Univer- sity. She received the Doctorate of Modern Foreign Languages from Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vt. She began her teaching career at Mississippi College and was later named Head of the Depart- ment of Foreign Languages at Mississippi Univer- sity for Women where she taught until 1990. Dr. Lane joined the faculty at East Central Community College in 1999. While at East Central, she was named Academic Instructor of the Year. She retired from teaching in 2007.

Philadelphia native Michael Hardy (’10), known profes-

sionally as HARDY, was recent- ly nominated for three Acad- emy of Country Music Awards. His nominations include New Artist of the Year; Musical Event of the Year for “Beers on Me” with Dierks Bentley and BRELAND; and Song of the Year for “Sand in My Boots,” a col- laboration with Ashley Gorley and Josh Osborne. Parker Leitaker (’19) re- cently joined the staff of SouthGroup Cox Agency, Inc., in Carthage as an independent insurance agent. Former football Warrior Ethan McMullan (’19) of Deca- tur was the winner of the Iron Warrior event at the Choctaw Indian Fair. He recently com- pleted his degree in mechanical engineering from Southeastern Louisiana University in Ham- mond. Mitchell Award for Undergrad- uate Academic Excellence and Outstanding Undergraduate Student in the Division of Arts and Sciences at Mississippi State University Meridian.
