'Can Bangers' slated at ECCC The East Central Community College Wall 0' Sound's concert band and percussion ensemble per– form Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. in Huff Auditorium. Following the concert band, Assistant Director of I Bands Ed Girling will lead the "Can Bangers" percus– sion ensemble in original percussion music featuring traditional and non-traditional instruments. There is no charge for admission and the public is invited. East Central hosts healthfest East Central Community College's healthcare divi– sion will host a healthfest from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thurs· day and Friday, April 23-24 in the Sutphin Healthca re Building in Decatur. Faculty and students will present a simulatior exercise in mass casualty triage care after a tornado. Participants will also have an opportunity to tow campus, talk with students, faculty and administra· tion, and learn about healthcare education opportuni· ties available at ECCC. ECCC choir schedules auditions Auditions for the East Central Community College Concert Choir and the show choir, Ac'cents, are sched– uled for 1 p.m., Friday, April 24, in the Vickers Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Concert choir members receive a half tuitibn schol– arship and Ac'cents members receive a full tuition scholarship. Interested students may audition for one or both groups. "Our new ensemble will be called Voce, the Italian word for voice, and that is what this new group will be all about," she said. "This a cappella group will be a mor e inclusive group and will perform selections which could r ange from madrigals to songs similar to the popu– lar group Pentat onix." Voce will take the place of the Ac'cents show choir, which is being retired at the end of the spring term. "The show choir tended
ECCC hosts student art exhibit East Central Community College's Art Department will host a student art exhibition through Friday, May 1 in the Vickers Fine Arts Center in Decatur. The exhibit will featur e drawings, paintings, prints, sculpture and designs by EC students. An opening reception, with refreshments by the col– lege's Culinary Arts Department, will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. today (Thursday) in the arts center. The public is invited. Students featured in the exhibit and their home– "towns include Kelly Dixon of Carthage, and Clay Summers-Jones, Walnut Grove.
