Four ECCC Softball ·Players Win Awards at National Championship Four East Central Community College Lady Diamond Warrior softball players received awards at the conclusion of the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Softball National Championship played May 13-16 at Traceway Park m Clinton. ECCC advanced to the championship game of the 16-team tournament before finishing second in the nation. It was the htghest-ever finish for the Decatur col– lege's softball program. The Lady Diamond Warriors ended their record– brcaking season witb a 48-14 record. Lady Diamond Warrior outfielder Katlyn Duke, a product ofNeshoba Central High School, won the Maruc– ci Elite Hitter Award as the tournament's top batter She had 10 hits in the eight games, including a home run, a tnple, and two doubles. She knocked in I0 runs. First ba~eman Mahalia Gibson of Oak Grove High School. second baseman Mallory Turner of West Lauderdale High School. and pitcher Lacey Hill of Kil– bourne (La.) High School were named to the All-Tourna– ment Team. Gibson had nme hits. including four doubles and a home run and six RBis. Turner had l0 hits and two RBis. Hill pitched 43. l innmgs over seven games, winning four and losing one with two no-decisions She struck out 36 batters.
