Three ECCC softball players earn all-region 23 honors Three members of the record-setting East Central Community College softball team have been named to the National Junior College Ath– letic Association Region 23 All-Region Team following the 2015 season. Mahalia Gibson, Lacey Hill and Chloe Thaggard were named All-Region 23. Gibson. a freshman, batted .406 with 80 hits, including24 doubles and 52 RBis, all team bests. She tied for the team lead in home runs with 11 and had a .971 fieldlng aver– age. Gibson also was named to theNJCAA Division II Soft– ball National Championship All-Tournament Team and Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Col– leges First Team All-State. Hill, a freshman pitcher who prepped at Kilbourne High School, was 25-9 on the mound for the Lady Diamond Warriors this season, with a 2.4 earned run average and 172 strikeouts in 215 innings pitched. She also was named to the NJCAADivision II Soft– ball National Championship All-T~urnament Team. Thaggard, a freshman pitcher and product of Leake Academy. had a 23-5 record with a 1.7 ERA and 173 strikeouts in 178 innings on the mound.
