ECCC women remain undefeated

The Central Community College women's soccer team got goals from three different players to remain undefeated with a 3-2 win over Itawamba Friday, Sept. 11, in Decatur. Coach Gray Massey's women are now 6-0 on the sea– son, and 3-0 in Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges North Division play. With each win, the Lady Warriors set the school record for the most victories to open a season without a loss. East Central got goals from sophomore midfielder Allie Turner out of Hom Lake High East

School, sophomore midfielder Kayla Anderson out of Florence High School, and freshman forward Presley Mclemore out of Brandon High School. Sophomore for– ward Carrissa Stevenson, a product of Harrison Central High School in Gulfport, assist– ed on all three goals. East Central outshot Itawamba 16-2 in the match. The East Central men earned a 1-1 draw with Itawamba in the second match of the day. The Warriors are now 3-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in division play. Playing a man down, the

Warriors earned the equalizer on a penalty kick by sopho– more forward Jacob Johnson to gain the tie. It was the fourth goal of the season for the Destrehan High School (La.) product. Both East Central squads return to action against North Division opponent Holmes on Tuesday, Sept. 15, in Ridgeland. The women's teams face off at 2 p.m. and men's action follows at 4 p.m. The East Central women also will play Saturday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Clinton to battle the Mississippi College Junior Varsity at 3:30 p.m.
