After a solid prep career at Oxford High School in Alabama. Mahaffey decided to sign with Western }{e lUCky. but after a year there he decided to leave for a fresh start "I had offers from Jacksonville State. Chattanooga and Western Rentucky and I signed with Western Rentucky.· Mahaffey told JCFootball.com recently. "I left this spring. It just wasn't the best fit for me. so I start to look around and East Central was a better fit for me coming in as a transfer

With his outstanding size and quickness. Mahaffey can play almost anywhere along the defensive lme. but he'll man the three- tech. defensive tackle spot once he enrolls there later this month I can play all across the line. but I'm comfortable in the three-tech; Mahaffey noted. My technique and get off are great and I give great effort and good explosive to be my size
