Girling to Serve as ECCC Interim Director ofBands

Ed Girling of Carthage was recently named interim director of bands at East Cen– tral Commw1ity College in Decatur, announced ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart. Girling has 33 years of experience as a band director and percus– sion instructor and has served as assistant band director at East Central since 2010. He previously Jed high school bands at Forest, Scott Central. Stringer, Neshoba Cen– tral, Manchester Acad– emy, Cleveland, North Sunflower Academy and Yazoo City. Girling also has experience as a clinic and contest judge and as a band clinician ahd guest conductor. He is also a music arranger and com– poser and has served as a percussionist for various music groups.

Girling bolds bachelor's and master's degrees in music educa– tion from Delta State Uni– versity in Cleveland. The college's Wall O' Sound Band per– forms during football games, parades, concerts and other campus events throughout the year. Tue 2016 band is expected to boast more than t 75 stu– dents and the halftime show is titled "One Hit Wonders."
