Girling receives baton .at ECCC
Ed Girling of Carthage was recently named inter– im director of bands at East Central Community College, announced ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart. Girling has 33 years of experience as a band director and percussion instructor and has served as assistant band director at East Central since 2010. He previously led high school bands at Forest, Scott Central, Stringer, Neshoba Central, Man– chester Academy, Cleve– land, North Sunflower Academy and Yazoo City. Girling also has experi– ence as a clinic and con– test judge and as a band clinician and guest con– ductor. He is a music arranger and composer and has served as a percussionist for various music groups. Girling holds bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from

Delta State University. The college's Wall O' Sound Band performs dur– ing football games, parades, concerts and other campus events throughout the year. The 2016 band is expected to boast more than 175 students and the halftime show is titled "One Hit Wonders."
