East Central Community College's basketball squads began season actjon ~on a positive note by posting easy victones over Coahoma Community College Monday. Nov. 3 tn Clarksdale. The Lady Wamors cruised 92-Q4 and the Warriors won handily by a 76-55 ~ ~. Tash1-Ana Thompson led the EC women with 19 points in the non-d1v1st0n matchup. Thompson is a sophomore guard and product of Miller Grove High School rd' in Lithonia. Ga. Also scoring in double figures were Samantha Duncan of Oak Grove, 14; and Tynika Bender of Newton. 10. Other point makers were Shakerya Morrison, a product of East Wake High School in Wendell, N.C.. eight; Rolanda Washington of Raymond. Johnta' Hughes of Hattiesburg, Alexia McDonald of Petal, Courtney Harper of Laurel and Breona Foster of Neshoba Central, six each; Breaushza Ragsdale of Morton. five; and Kalybriah Haskin. a product of Olympian High School in Chula Vista, CA. and Jalesia Jones of Wayne County, three each. The 6-3 Harper led in rebounds with seven. The Lady Warriors are led by third-year head coach Crandal Porter. In the men's contest. Quinton Campbell was the top scorer with 20 points. Campbell is a sophomore forward and product of Mary G. Montomery High School 1n Mobile L' Also scoring in double figures were Prince McDaniel of Pascagoula. 19; and Racine Talla of USC Upstate 1n Dakar. Senegal. 13 Other point makers were Randy Phillips of Lanier. seven; Isaiah Traylor of Tupelo, five, Demond Morgan of Morton and Roshad Collier of Brandon. three each; Ramone Tate of St Stanislaus and Monte Bowie of Morton. two each; and Demarkus Jones of Terry and Demck Dandridge, a product ofVVhite Station High School in Memphis, one each. The 6-8 Talla led in rebounds with 10. EC led 30-23 at the break. The Warriors are led by second-year head coach Robert Thompson. EC squads host Delgado Community College~ Thursday, Nov. 6. Game times are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building. Erica Collins poured in 20 points to lead the Lady Tigers. EC held a 46-29 advantage at halftime.
