ECbaseball advances to state title series

a 4-3 win over the home standing Lions in first-round action Friday, May 2, fell 7-1 in the second contest Satur day afternoon, then re bounded for a resounding 12-3 victory in the rubber game Saturday night to ad vance to this week's state tournament at Northeast Mississippi Community Col lege in Booneville. East Central begins the double-elimination event by taking on Hinds Community College at noon Thursday,
May 8. Jones County and the host Tigers battle at 4 p.m. A pair of elimination games are on tap for Friday, May 9, with the losers of games one and two meeting at 10 a.m. The loser of that contest concludes their sea son while the winner secures its spot in the Region 23 Tournament. The two winners of Thurs day's matchups battle at 1 p.m. with a berth to the title game on the line.The loser of that game must rebound
quickly for an elimination contest set to begin at 4 p.m. The 2014 MACJC State Championship game will begin at noon Saturday, May 10 with an "if necessary con test" to follow at approxi mately 3 p.m. All games are nine-inning contests. Admission is $5 each dav at Harold T. White Field. Tournament T-shirts "'ill also be on sale for $15 while special game-day programs cost $2 at the entrance.
