EC posts 3-1 mark to open division play

3-2 lead and EC held on for the victory. Ward led the offense with a double and single. Little and Daigle had singles each. Thrower and Whitten were credited with an RBI each. Ty Hendrix picked up the win, as the right-bander from East Webster High School allowed one earned run on six innings through 6 2/3 innings. He fanned eight batters and walked four. In the first maichup with Co-Lin, EC jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the home stand ingWolves rallied for the vic tory. Bush had two sing1es, knocked in a run and scored twice to pace the Diamond Warrior offense. Other hitters were Whit ten and Ward, two singles each; Ben Cooley of South Jones, triple and RBI; Little, single and two RBis; and

Daigle and Caleb Woods of Leake Central, single and RBI each. Bush took the loss on the mound. He hurled one-third inning and allowed one earned run on three hits. He also walked a batter. In the nightcap, Whitten led the offense with a double and two singles. He also knocked in a run. Other sluggers were Daigle, two singles and two RBis; Berry, two singles and RBI; Little, single and two RBis; and Fazende, single and RBI. NickWJlson picked up the win. The southpaw from Terry went two innings and allowed one earned run on one hit. He also fanned three batters and walked one. The Diamond Warriors are led by head coach Neal Holliman and assistants Scott DeLoach and Ronald Sims.

East Central Community College's baseball squad began MACJC South Divi sion competition with a dou bleheader sweep of MS Gulf Coast Community College and a t\"in bill split with Copiah-Lincoln Community College. The Diamond Warriors registered 11-7 and 3-1 victo ries over Gulf Coast on March 12 in Perkinston. They journeyed lo Co-Lin's Wesson campus on March 15, where they fell 8-7 in the opener and rallied for a 10-6 win in the nightcap. In the first win over Gulf Coast, several Diamond Warriors collected multiple hits to lead the offense.
