Savell is a native of Lake. He is married to Diane Savell, who is also an ECCC alum and a native of Meridian. They have two children, Parker, 6 and Jamey, 4. They are active members of Salem Baptist Church in Lake.

After receiving his associ ate's degree from ECCC in 2000, Savell earned his bachelor's degree in busi ness administration from Mississippi State University in 2002. Savell continued his education by earning a mas ter's of science in instruc tional technology degree
