lear, concise and timely communication with internal and external constituencies is a critical success factor for any effective organization. Therefore, East Central is developing comprehensive strategies and policies to advance visibility of the college and to engage and involve stakeholders.

Additionally, restructructuring college councils and committees has enhanced opportunities for employees to participate in the decision-making process at the college and advance overall efficiency. “One example of the way these committees work is in instructional recommendations,” Dr. Stewart said. “They begin in the Curriculum Committee, make their way to the Instructional Council, then to the Executive Council and finally to the Board of Trustees. At each level, they are discussed, scrutinized and tweaked. In the future, this is the structure we want to follow.” East Central’s Policies and Procedures Manual has also been revised and is available online in a searchable format. This updated version will increase access to relevant information by college employees. “Our updated Policies and Procedures Manual will now allow easy access for all employees through our website application,” said Chris Harris, Dean of Personnel Services and Athletics.

One way East Central Community College has institued clear and concise communication is through the implementation of a new Visual Identity and a Identity Graphic Standards Manual, which will convey a consistent message to internal and external audiences. “During the process of strategic planning, it became apparent that the college lacked a strong, unified visual identity,” said Dr. Billy Stewart, College President. “Over the years, the college’s visual identity had been fragmented, mainly due to the use and dissemination of several different college logos in several shades of gold. It was imperative that the college adopt and implement official logos, symbols and colors.”

The Identity Graphic Standards Manual, which includes proper usage of the college’s new logos and colors, is available online.

Policies and Procedures Manual Updated East Central’s Policies and Procedures Manual has been revised and is available online. This updated version will increase access to relevant information by college employees. Unlike the previous manual, the new online manual is searchable by key terms and can also be accessed by a mobile device.
