Hinds 80 Four Lady Warriors scored in double figures lo lead EC to an easy 20- point win Thursday in Decatur. With the win, EC qual– ified for the MACJC State Tournament, scheduled Feb. 27- March 1. The top women's squad in the North Division is the designated host for the 2012 event. The Itawamba Commun– ity College womeri are the top seed in the North with a perfect 10-0 mark. The Lady Indians are 19- 2 overall. The Lady Warriors, after starting the season at 0-11, are now 8-12 overall and 7-3 in league play under seventh-year head coach Bill Smith. Co-Lin leads the South at 10-0. EC and Pearl River are tied at 7-3 fol– lowed by Jones County (6-4), Gulf Coast (5-6), Hinds (1-11) and South– west (0-10). Ja'Monica Orton was the top scorer in EC's blowout with 27 points. Sb.e also led in rebounds with 11. Also scoring in double figures were Jaiannah Matthew with 22, Xzandra Dowd with 21, and Kelcia Bufkin with 10. Reneisha Evans of Newton County scored seven, and Jakela John– son had six. Kenya Wright tallied 18 points to lead Hinds, 3-18 and 2-9. EC held a command– ing 49-20 advantage at the break. EC men 86 ~ds 83 The Warriors came away with a double-over– time win as Jimmie Broomfield pumped in 18 points to lead EC, 2-18 and 2-8.

EC improved to 7-12 overall, but more impor– tantly 6-3 in the South Division. Kelcia Bufkin was EC's top scorer with 31 points. She was 7-of-12 from beyond the 3-point arc. Ja'Monica Orton add– ed 12 points, Ashlee Hardy of Newton scored nine, and Jaiannah Matthew and Kurlysha Bell both bad six. Shanicce Sheffield and Sbanekqua Bibbs pump– ed in 23 and 22 points, respectively, to lead Southwest, 3-17 and 0-9.
