AlexMeador, a graduate of Newton County High School, is the recipient of the Ruth Round Volun– teer Scholarship at East Central Community Col– lege ln Decatur. The scholarship was estab– lished ln 2010 by Newton Community Healthcare, Inc., to honor Ruth Round of Newton, who served as president of the Pink Ladles Auxil– Iary at the hospital ln Newton for 22 years and contributed more than 40,000 volunteer hours of service.

Sophomore Edward Boudreaux of De– catur ls the recipient of the Stella Weath– ersby Newsome Scholarship at East Central Community College ln Decatur. The scholarship was lnltlated ln 1998 by Mrs. Newsome's granddaughter, Mar– lon Francis of Jack– son, to honor the memory of the long– time ECCC literature instructor.
