Sophomore Andrew Hanna of Union, a gradu– ate of Newton County Academy, is the recipient of the Frank Edwin and Nena Holt Leatherwood Scholarship at East Cen– tral Community College . lnDecatur. · The scholarship was es– tablished by family and friends ln memory of the longtime educators. Mr. Leatherwood was a member of the ECCC sci– ence faculty for a number of years and Mrs. Leatherwood served a~ an elementary school teacher. EC Photos

Jacob Oliver (center), a graduate of Newton County High School, is the recipient of the Thomas Rudolph Mayes Schol– arship at East CentralCommunityCollege ln Decatur. Pictured with the recipient are Sid (right) and Jackie Etie, who, along with famlly and friends, established the scholarship in 1998ln memory of her father, Rudolph Mayes. Mr. Mayes served 28 years as an English instructor at the College.
