Receives scholarship

East Central Community College sophomore Ethan Pendergrass of Nashoba Central is the 2012 recipient of the Dr. Shelby L. Harris Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was established in 2002 In memory of Dr. Harris by the ECCC math and computer science divi– sion, along with other ECCC faculty and staff members.

The scholarship fund was 1n1t1ated and formally established in April 2010 by the Newton Community Healthcare, Inc. and Rush Health Systems. It is named in memory of ECCC alumnus Dan Harrison who served in a succession of positions over his 25 years with Rush Health Systems a.nd was serving as Vice President at the time of his death. The award was pre– sented dunng the annual AT&T Scholarship Awards Program held June 8 in Huff Auditorium. A luncheon was held in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria following the awards ceremony. During the 2012 event, 136 students received 111 endowed or annual scholarships totaling approx- • imately $74,000 in value. (EC Photo)
