East Central Commu– nity College's baseball squad concluded regular season competition by dropping a twin bill to Copiah-Lincoln Commu– nity Saturday, April 28 on the Wesson campus. The playoff-bound Di– amond Warriors were victims of a no-hitter in an 8-0 loss in the opener and were unable to hold a 3-0 lead in the night– cap and fell6-3. East Central takes a 25-21 overall mark into a best of three series with Itawamba Commu– nity College scheduled May 4-5 on the Fulton campus. The first game is set for 6 p.m. Friday and the second contest will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. A third game -if necessary - will fol– low the 2 p.m. matchup. The Diamond War– riors finished fourth in the MACJC South Divi– sion with a 12-12 mark. ICC's Indians won the MACJC North Division with a 19-5 record. The

Indians are 35-9 overall. The ECCCIItawamba winner advances to the MACJC State Tourna– ment scheduledMay 10- 12 and hosted by the highest-seeded North Division squad. In t he fu-st game with Co-Lin, starter Blake Dubuisson took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits through 1 2/3 innings. The right-han– der from Long Beach fanned a batter and walked two. He was re– lieved by right-bander Evan Humphries of Louisville, who went 2 2/3 innings and allowed one run on three hits. He fanned one batter and walked two. Marc Cruso, a right-hander from Harrison Central, relieved Humphries in the fifth inning and al– lowed two runs on two hits. He also walked two batters. Right-hander BrockWard ofLouisville finished the game, al– lowing one hit in 1 1/3 innings. He also walked

a batter.

In the second game, EC jumped out to a 3-0, first-inning lead follow– ing a two-run homer by Tim Anderson of Hill– crest (Ala.) High School and an RBI-double by Rubert Alcantara of the Dominican Republic. Anderson and Alcan– tara were also credited with singles each to lead the EC offense. Other hitters were Kyle Hen– son of Starkville Acad– emy, Ricardo Velez of Puerto Rico and Xavier Franklin, a product of Newton County High School. Co-Lin tied the contest in the fourth inning and grabbed a 4-3 advantage following a solo shot by Jonathan Santana, who belted a grand slam in the first game. The Wolves added two more runs in the sixth inning and held on for the win. Co-Lin finished the season at 23-21-1 overall and 8-16 in league play.
