ECCC softball team splits decisions at Holmes Mter falling 2-0 in the opener, East Cen– tral Community Col– lege's fast-pitch softball team responded with a 16-0 blowout in the nightcap to split a dou– bleheader with Holmes Community College Tuesday in Goodman. The Lady Diamond Warriors, now 12-5 under head coach Scott Hill and assistant Kristin Chaney, out-hit the home standing Lady Bulldogs by a 6-5 margin in the first con– test but could not muster a run. Holmes scored its runs in the second and third in– nings to claim the non– division victory. Roberts, who also singled, led EC with four RBis. Griffin led the team in hits with two dou– bles and a single. She· also knocked in three runs. Peeler contributed a double and a single and recorded two RBls. Other hitters were Pounders, Dakota Vowell of Neshoba Central and Haelie Allen of Leake Acad– emy, doubles each; and Watson, single. Allen also had three RBis. Pounders, Vowell and Watson each knocked in a run. Kaetlen Brown of Deatsville, Ala., hurled a three-hitter in regis– tering the shutout vic– tory. Brown fanned two batters and walked one. She is a product of Edgewood (Ala.) Academy. The Lady Diamond Warriors travel to Baton Rouge Commu– nity College Wednes– day, Feb. 29. Doubleheader action begins at 3 p.m. East Central will be guests of Hinds Com– munity College Satur– day, March 3. Game times are 1 and 3 p.m. on the Raymond cam– pus.
