ECCC Fires Head Football Coach
The search is under way for a new head football coach at East Central Commumty College m Decatur. announced ECCC Pres1dent Dr Billy W. Stewart. Dr Stewart made the announcement following Tuesday's meeting of the College's Board of Trustees, which approved the change in leadership of the Warrior football program "We have decided to go in a different direction w1th our football program effective today (December 4, 2012)," said Dr Stewart "Brian Anderson will be reassigned to other duties at the College until h1s contract exp1res on June 30, 2013 We thank Bnan for h1s five years of serv1ce to the East Central football team." Anderson has guided the Warriors the past four years. compiling an overall mark of 9-27 He was named head coach on an interim basis 1n 2009, when the Warriors went 2-7. The squad also posted 2-7 seasons in 2010 and 2011 . The Warners recently completed a 3-6 campaign. Anderson JOmed the ECCC staff m 2008 as offensiVe coordinator and contmued serv1ng m that capacity as head coach. Pnor to JOinmg the Wamor program Anderson served as head coach and offensive coordinator at Grenada High School in 2007-08 and led the Philadelphia H1gh School football program from 2004-06. He 1s also a former ass1stant at Neshoba Central H1gh School (1996-97) and Mend1an H1gh School (1999-2003) A Prattville Ala native. Anderson was a standout football player at MissiSSippi State Umversity where the three-year starter was an All-SEC selection at center dunng h1s JUnior and sen1or seasons and was a member of three bowl teams. He was also a member of the All-SEC Academic Team for three years and was selected to play in the Blue-Gray All-Star and East-West Shnne All-Star games He was selected for the NFL Combme in 1996 Dr Stewart said applications for a new head football coach will be received until December 26, 2012 A committee headed by athletic d1rector Chns Harris will interview candidates and subm1t a recommendation for consideration "I am confident that several qualified candidates will be interested in leading the Warrior football team as we strive for excellence in the classroom and on the field of play.
