The Warriors had threatened to score on thea previous drive but a turnover gave Delta pos– session on its three-yard– line. The Warriors contin– ued their dominance of Delta by tiCoring on the first possession of the sec– ond half - a three-yard run by Johnny Beamon of New Hope. The s ix-play, 68-yard march was high– lighted by Hall's 49-yard pass to Hunt to the three– yard-line. The Trojans, now down 28-0, drove into Warrior territory on their next possess1on but the threat ended when linebacker Layton Holcomb of Oak Grove intet·cepted Leavy's pass on the EC 42. The Warriors would later turn the ball over deep in Delta territory, ending a ~coring opportu– nity at the 18-yard-line late in third period action. EC's final points of the day came midway in the fourth quarter on Franklin's 31-yard field goal, capptng a 16-play, 83-yard march. The turnover obvtously inspired the Warrior offense. as Hall led the squad on a 14-play. 88- yard drive capped by his 32-yard TO strike to Y.ide receiver Kyle Koch '"ith 13:50 remaining until halftime. East Central Commu– nity College quarterback Brock Hall threw for two scores and the Warrior defense completely shut down the Mississippi Delta Community College offensive attack in cruis ing 31-0 over the Trojans Saturday. EC improved to 3-4 fol– lowing the non-division victory, while Delta dropped its homecoming battle and fell to 0-7. Warrior head coach Brian Anderson was espe– cially proud 'of his team's shut-out victory. "1 JUSt cannot say enough about our players' efforts," said Anderson in a post-game interview. "This team figured out the importance of playing together as 'one' about four weeks ago and haven't looked back. Thls squad is special to me in the fact that they have bought into the team con– cept , which a lot of junior colleges don't ever seem to do " Anderson had special praise for the defen::-ive unit. which held Delta to under 100 yards rul'hing and allowed no passing yards - a statistic that obviously belongs in the
