Hall playing two posit ions for ECCC
DECATUR, Miss. I Brock Hall wants the football in his hands. So, it makes no difference to the former Paul W. Bryant High School standout whether it is throwing the football or catching it. "I just like to have the ball in my hands," Hall said. "Quarterback comes more naturally to me. I have played the position for four years and I don't have to think about a lot of things. It just comes natural to me. I feel like I can make plays at quarterback most of the time."
"He has great speed back there," Anderson said. "He has a tremendous arm. He can really throw the football. Last week, he probabl y had 20·25 snaps, this week he will have more. His role at quarterback, I anticipate growing each week for the
remainder of the season." That's just fine with Hall.
"Quarter back j ust comes more natural to me," Hall said. "I think It has helped me a lot. When I got here, Coach told me they wanted to move me to receiver and that he thought that was my best position If I was going to play Division I football. l think it has really helped me out." The dual ·threat potential has made Hall a hot commodity on the recruiting trail. According to Anderson, he is getti ng serious offers from most every Conference-USA school. Anderson said he thinks Hall will fit in well in a spread offense. Hall said the recruiting process has been exciting and that he is close to achieving his goal of playing Division 1football. "It has been exciting," he said. " It has always been a goal of mine to play Division I football and get on the big stage." Hall said he plans to visit Marshall in the near future and also has offers from Southern Mississippi, Memphis. Troy and South Alabama. "If you can play the quarterback position you can pretty much play anywhere on the field,'' Anderson said. "Coaches got the opportunity to see him play last year and make some big plays in the passing game. He has made a few here so far. He you can direct an offense and know what the receivers are doing and know what the linemen are doing. Get the plays from sideline and you can direct an offense, I think that helps your stock." Hall doesn't care where he plays, as long as the ball is in his hands.
When he arrived at East Central Community College in Decatur. Miss., last fall, Hall was moved from quarterback to wide receiver. ECCC coach Brian Anderson said the move was made to enhance Hall's chances of playi ng Division I football. "We converted Brock from a quarterback to wide receiver," Anderson said. "We thought it would be a no-brai ner he could be a Division I wide receiver. He is long and a very athletic player. He has good quickness, good top-i!nd speed and good hands. He is very explosive." Hall has had to get used to catching the ball rather than throwing it. "It was difficult at first," he said. "When I first got here they moved me and It was a really hard thing for me to move from quarterback to wide receiver. I had played quarterback four years in high school and then all of a sudden make that move. I knew 1 had to make it work and play my role to help the team. Actually, It has turned out pretty good for me." Hall had 1l catches for 204 yards and four touchdowns as freshman In 2011. He completed 4 of 6 passes for 80 yards as the backup quarterback. This year, Hall has five catches for 43 yards. He also has three rushing attempts for 21 yards as the backup signal -caller. Injuries at the quarterback position the last two seasons allowed Hall to play both receiver and quarterback for the Warriors. He made his 2012 debut at quarterback in the Warriors' first win, agai nst Southwest Mississippi Community College last Thursday when ECCC starter Colton Kane was sidelined with an injury.
