Renovations at EC to begin soon

East Central Community College in Decatur heldgroundbreak:lng ceremonies June 12 to begin renovations of Cross Hall Science Bullding, originally constru~ted ln 1961 to house biological and chemical sciences. Taking part tn the special ceremony were (from left) ECCC Board of Trustees officers Jerry Smith (vice chalnnan) of Phlladelphla, Dr. Jlm.my Holllngsworth (chairman) of Lake and Royce Shaw (secretary) of Forest; Curt Skipper, chairmanof the Science Division; and ECCC President Phil Sutphin. The construction project Is expected to be complete by summer 2013 at an es timated cost of $3 million. Upgrades include , ! : state-of-th~art classrooms with multi-media projection capablllttes as well as LED llghting and an energy efficient heating and coollng system. During his remarks, Sutphin said "Enrollment growth at the college has exceeded the capacity of the current facility. These renovations lvtll handle the current students, plus allow us to e.~and in the future."
