ECCC RETIREES HONORED

These East Central Community College retirees rece1ved special recognitiOn at the Col– lege's annual end-of-the-year luncheon held m Mabry Memorial Cafeteria on the Decatur campus. They are shown displaying framed resolutions commemorating their years of service to ECCC and the field of education. They were also presented various gifts. From left are Thomas W. Carson, director of bands; Haywood Reeves, math instructor; Dr. Phil A. Sutphin, College president; and Or. Lavinia Sparkman, vice president for instruction. Carson has served 30 years as director of bands and held the position of Fine Arts Divi– sion Chairman since 2009. He resigned as division chairman in 2012 to continue his battle with cancer. Reeves has logged 44 years service in the field of education, the last 14 at ECCC. Dr. Sutphin is completing 12 years as ECCC President and 24 years on the College staff, having previously served as dean of students and dean of instruction. In all, he has served 42 years in the field of education. Or. Sparkman began her tenure at ECCC in 2000 and has provided 27 years of service in educat1on.
