LATE JUCO BASKETBALL ECCCsquads remain winless after setbacks to Holmes from school reports DECATUR- East Central Community College's basketball teams remain winless through six starts following setbacks at Holmes Community College on Monday. The ECCC women were unable to overcome an eight-point half– time deficit and fell 80-64 to Holmes, while the Warriors were outscored 88-64 .by the undefeated Bulldogs. Ja'Monica Orton led the EC women with 17 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Warriors, who trailed 39-31 at half– time, were Ine'ssa Adams and Jakela Johnson with 11 each Kierra Gilmore pumped in 26 points to lead the Holmes women who improved to 3-1. ' LaVadius Lyles and Bobby Wrench each scored 13 points to lead the ECCC men. The other double-digit scorer wasJimmie Broomfield with 12; while Newton High product Cordarion Nichols finished with nine and former Newton County star Hakeem Wesley added eight. Demarcus Lewis pumped in 27 points to lead the Bulldogs, who improved to 4-0 after leading 41-28 at the break. East Central visits East Mis– sisippi on Thursday for its final game before Thanksgiving.
