Bacon, host ofotherEC baseball players pick Former thoctaw Central pitcher Willard Bacon has been ruuned a sec– ond-team, all-state selection by the Mis– sissippi Assocatioo of Community and Junior College for his play at this past season on the East Central Community College baseball team. Bacon went 5-l and had the team's lowest earned-run average at 1.70. He recorded 31 strikeouts. He plans to continue his playmg career at the University of Alabama– Huntsville. Several other East Central Communi– ty College players received honors fol– lowing the 2011 campaign. Third baseman Vmcent Kortbawi of Moundville, Ala., was selected All– Region 23 and first team MACJC All– State. He was also named an NJCAA Academic All-American and was select– ed the Diamond Warriors' most valuable player. He led ECCC on offense with a .385 batting average and 43 RBis. He also led in home runs (eight), triples (3), doubles (14) and total hits (60). Also receiving first team MACJC All-State honors is pitcher Colton Mitchell of Lake. Other Diamond Warriors chosen sec– ond teamMACJC All-State include sec– ond baseman Charles Hill and southpaw Pervis Mann, both of Carthage; and southpaws Bobby Bryan of Crossett, Ark. The Diamond Warriors Mnished third in the MACJC South Division and qual– ified for the post season playoffs en route to a 28-20 record.
