Beta Lambda her freshman year and received several awards at the 2010 PBL State Convention. She is also a member ofTheta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, where she serves as vice president of serv– ice; Baptist Student Union, serv– ing on the BSU Council and The Way Drama Team; and the Wes– ley Foundation. In addition, she is a member of the Warrior Corps, ECCC Players and the WO-HE-LO yearbook staff. J She was also named to Who's Who Among Students in Ameri– can Junior Colleges for 2010-11. An honor graduate and vale– dictorian of Neshoba Central High School, McKee received numerous scholarships to attend ECCC, including the Philadel– phia Rotary Scholarship, ACT Scholarship, Presidential Schol– arship, Sam Rush Memorial Scholarship and Landon Burt Scholarship. She is involved in various community service projects, including Operation Christmas Child. McKee is the daughter of Greg and Linda McKee of Philadelphia. Breland, who was named to the 20JJ All-Mississippi Acade– mic Second Team, is a pre-dental major at EC, where she is a Pres– ident's and Dean's list scholar. She was selected a freshman and sophomore beauty and was chosen a freshman maid on the 20I0 Homecoming Court. She serves as president of the Astronomy Club and vice presi– dent of Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. Breland is also member of the Warrior Corps, Sigma Sigma Mu Tau and the Centralettes, the dance line for the Wall 0' Sound Marcbmg Band. In addition, she
lege sophomores Meredith McKee and Sarah Breland, both of Philadelphia, were recently named on the 2011 All-Mississip– pi Academic Teams. The annual program recog– nizes scholarly achievements and leadership accomplishments of students enrolled in the state's two year colleges and is coordi– nated by The Oarion-Ledger, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Col– leges and the State Board for Community and Junior Colleges. This year's 58 honorees were recognized March 2 at the State Capitol by the Mississippi Legis– lature and guests of honor at a luncheon held at the Jackson Marriott. Sen. Terry C. Burton of Newton served as master of cere– monies. McKee is among 15 students statewide chosen on the All-Mis– sissippi First Team and will receive a $1,000 scholarship to continue her education. As a First Team member, McKee will also compete for placement on the national All– USA Academic Team for Com– munity Colleges, sponsored by USAToday, Phi ThetaKappa and the American Association of Community Colleges. The 20 students receiving All– USA First-Team recognition will be featured in the April 19 issue of USA Today and each will receive a $2,500 stipend. McKee. a President's List scholar with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, chose education J psychology as her program of study. Her career goal is to become a counselor. This year, 37 states will sponsor All-State Academic Team programs using the All– Mississippi program as a model. ECCC faculty members Kate Covich and Curt Skipper serve as advisers for ECCC's Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.
