EC ace Bailey gets prestigious AAhonor Sophomore pitcher: is only Mississippi player to make first teamAll-American From School Reports Taylor Bailey's success on the mound received national attention as the standout East Central Com– munity College softball player has been named a first team NJCAA All-American for 2010- 11. Bailey, who helped lead the Lady Diamond Warriors to their first state title and a ftfth place tie in the 2011 NJCAA Division D Softball National Championship en route to a 37-15 record, is the only member of a Mississippi team to receive the prestigious honor. She was also named to the NJCAA Division D Softball All– Tournament Team and received All-Region 23 and MACJC All– State honors. In addition, she was named the Lady Diamond War– riors' most valuable pitcher. A right-bander, Bailey went 32-10 and posted a 1.34 earned run average during the champi– onship campaign. She recorded 197 strikeouts. Bailey also bad success at the plate. She batted 283 and collect– ed 14 R.Bls. Bailey was also instrumental in the Lady Diamond Warriors' ance in the national tournament after capturing the program's first _ _ Region 23 Tournament title. Bailey was 25-6 in 2010 and had a 1. 78 earned run average. 1 She fanned 121 batters. She also l had a successful year at the plate by registering a .381 average with 17 RB ls. She belted eight doubles and one triple during the champi– onship season. She received numerous hon– ors following the 2010 season, including selection on the NJCAA Division U Softball All– Tournament Team. All-Region 23 and MACJC All-State. She was also named the Lady Diamond Warriors' most valuable pitcher. Also a formerSoutheast Laud– erdale High School standout, she finished her prep playing career at Bowie High School in Austin, Texas. Bailey plans to continue her career at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The Lady Diamond Warriors are led by head coach Scott Hill and assistant Kristin Chaney.
