ECCC2 LSU-Eunice 1 The Lady Diamond Warriors defeated top-rated LSU-Eunice 2-1 in second-round tournament action Friday, May 6. East Central jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning after freshman Abbie Joiner of Nesho– ba Central scored on a single by sophomore Summer Alexander of Newton County. The Lady Bengals tied the contest at 1-1 in the top of sev– enth when Terrista Vallery of Kaplan, La., following a single by Chaney Trahan of New Iberia. EC won the game in the bot– tom of the frame when freshman Haelie Allen of Leake Academy scored following a sacrifice fly by sophomore Chelsea Jones of Enterprise. Watson led EC sluggers with three singles. Baileycontributed a double and singles each were recorded by Alexander and Lau– ren Nicholas of Neshoba Central. Alexander was also credited with an RBI. Bailey picked up the win, allowing one run on six hits in the seven-inning contest.

EC managed just three hits in the championship contest, a dou– ble. from freshman Haylee Roberts of Enterprise and singles by Buckley and Bailey. Bailey (29-8) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on seven hits. She fanned a batter and walked one. With the victory, LSU-Eunice improved to 53-10 and claimed its first Regional title. The Lady Bengals posted wins over East Mississippi andMS Gulf Coast to advance to Friday's round of games.
