Appeal Sports Editor A pair of MACJC South Division sweeps closed out the regular season for the East Central Com– munity College Lady Warriors last v,:eek. The Lady Warriors swept Southwest Miss– issippi (8-0 and 6-:3) and Hinds (8-1 and 7-0) to improve to 29-11 overall and lG-7 in the ~1ACJC South Division. EC opens the tourna– ment at noon Thursday against Northwest Miss– issippi, 24-21. EC 8-6 Southwest 0-3 The Lady Warriors capped "Sophomore Day" with the sweep of South– west on April 19 at Decatw·. EC improved to 14-7 in the division and 27-11 overall with the two wins. Southwest dropped to 6- 16 in league play. · In the opener. Taylor Bailey (21-6) tossed a four-hit shutout, stt·iking out five and walking one in the five-inning win. EC had seven hits with Haylee Roberts getting a two-run home run and four RBI and Brittany Pounders getting a two– run homer. Kelsi Watson added a double. All of Southwest's hits were singles. She struck out four. · In the second game, EC broke up a scoreless battle "-ith three runs in the top of the fourth inning. EC had a dozen hits with Nicholas, Buckley, Bailey, and Haylee Roberts each getting two. Roberts and Buckley both homeredwith Roberts get– ting three RBI. The LadyWarriors had 10 hits with Summer Alexander going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Roberts and Abbie ,Joiner both had a double with Joiner driving in two nms. Watson had a pair of singles. Bailey (22-6) got the win, allo\\ing five hits and one walk to go with four strikeouts. Losing pitcher Whit– ney Moore had two sin– gles for the Lady Bears. EC 8-7 Hinds 1-0 The Lady Warriors improved to 29-11 overall and 16-7 in the division \\-ith Friday's sweep at Raymond. In the opener, EC scored four runs in both the first and seventh innin~.
