Diamond Warriors sweep Gulf Coast, Mitchell hurls no-Hitter Southpaw Colton Mitchell of

Right-banders Tyler Dalton of Wmston Academy, Casey Wells of West Jones and Mitchell Wooten of Edinburg hurled an inning each. Dalton allowed two earned runs on three hits and walked a batter. Wells allowed one hit and no runs and Wooten pitched a scoreless inning and allowed no hits. TheDiamondWarriors trav– el to Hinds Community College Wednesday, April 13. Lake hurled a no-hitter, Charles Hill of Carthage belted two home runs and Carlos Leal of Guayn– abo, Puerto Rico contributed a dinger to lead East Central Com– munity College to an 11-0shutout of Mississippi Gulf Coast Com– munity Cpllege in the first of two victories over the then division– leading Bulldogs Saturday after– noon at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur. The Diamond Warriors took the second contest by an 8-4 mar– gin as several Warriors again found success with the long ball. Tyler Brant of Southaven blasted two home runs, and Hill and B.J. Martin of Franklinton lllgh School in Mt. Hermon, La., each homered. Following the doubleheader sweep, East Central improved to 21-13 overall and 8-6 in the MACJC South Division. The Diamond Warriors are currently fourth in league play. Gulf Coast dropped to 16-16 and 9-5 and fell to second place. Jones County leads the division at 104 and is 23-11 overall.
