Bulldogs grabbed a 10-0 lead in just over four minutes. Taylor Pontius booted a 22-yard field goal with 11:14left in the first quarter and Clint Hatten complet– ed a 5-yard fade pattern to Javon Bell in the left corner of the end zone with 10:44 still l'emaining in the OJ'ening period. The touchdown was set up when Alonzo Lawrence stepped in front of an underthrown pass by EC's Jesse Blakemore on a razzle– dazzle play and returned it 52 yards to the Warrior 5. EC closed lo within 10-7 with 12:10 to go in the second quarter when the Warriors turned an interception by Jimmie Broomfield into a 3-yard touchdown run by Dennis Thames. Gulf Coast extended its lead to 17-7 with 9:10 left in the half on a 2-yard run by James Gillum. Byron Nettles broke off a 33-yard run to the 6 to set up the score. The Warriors rallied to within 17-14 going into halftime as Blakemore completed a 20-yard scoring toss to Brock Hall with nine Reconds left in the second quarter. Reggie Hall made a juggling catch for a 36-yard gain to lhe 2 to set up the score.

Gulf Coast turned a Warrior fumble into a 27-yard field goal by Pontius just 87 seconds into the second half. A 25-yard field goal by Pontius upped the Bulldogs' lead to 23-14 with 5:20 to go in the third quarter. EC answered with a 12-yard keeper around right end by Blakemore to close to within 23-21 with 3:48 left in the third quarter. But the Bulldogs got a 3-yard touchdown run from Gillum with 1:28 remaining in the third quarter and a 1-ya.rd run from Reginald Matthews with 12:01 left in the game to pull out to a 37-21 advan– tage. Both scores were set up by big plays. A wide open Travonta. Thomas turned a pass into a 55- yard gain to the 3 to set up Gillum's score and Hatten found Bell for a 47-yard gain to set up Matthews' touchdown. Division-leading Gulf Coast improved to 4-0 in the league and 5-1 overall, while EC dropped to 0- 3 and 1-5. The Warriors travel to Ellisville Saturday to take on Jones. The Bobcats dropped to 0-3 and 3-3 with last week's 34-7loss at Hinds. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
