PRCC pulls away from ECCC in fourth for win DECATUR - While the 31-13 final score might not indicate it, one play pretty much cost the East Central Community College Warriors a chance of knocking off 15th-ranked Pearl River Community College Thursday night Trailing only 17-13 after getting a 9-yard touchdovm run from Dennis Thames earlv in the third period, the Warriors promptly forced the Wildcats to punt the ball right back on fourth-and-13. On the punt. however, EC was penalized for continuing to block a Wildcat well out of bounds. An inadvertent whistle on the play required the down to be replayed, but the 15- yard penalty on the Warriors gave Pearl River a first down and the Wildcats soon got a 36-yard touch– down pass from Melvin German to Snoop Rollins to take a 24-13 lead with 4:40 left in the third quarter. 13 "We blocked him too well," said EC coach Brian Ander..on. "\Ve got no breaks tonight. When you play a team like this. you've got to get breaks and vou can't make a lot of mistakes. We put the ball on the ground down there close when we had a chance to score again. "I'm proud of our kid ·. We played a great foot– ball team. as good a football team as I've seen in the last four year-.. "Our kid<: have nothing to hold their heads about, but at Ea't Central you can't make those mistakes.
