began her teaching career in 1978 at llickory High School, but spent most of her career at Decatur lligh School as a special education instructor. Her passion was "to help children achieve success and happiness in all that they attempted." Her dedication and love for her students and co-workers "were obvious to those who knew her." Agraduate of Decatur High School, she attended ECCC for one year before transferring to Mississippi State University, where she received a bachelor's degree in special education in 1979. She was married to Chris Harris for 30 years when she lost her battle with cancer in June 2005.They had three children, Kelli, Krissi and Cole. Harris was an educator for 28 years in the Newton County School District when she lost her battle with cancer in June 2008. The Pam Harris Memorial Scholar– ship- when endowed -will be awarded by her immediate famjly during the annual ECCC/ AT&T Scholarship Awards Luncheon held during the summer. Recipients will be selected by the College's Scholarship Committee from applicants who meet the fol– lowing criteria: • Newton County High School graduate. • Education major attending ECCC. • Minimum 2.5 GPA upon entering ECCC. • Strong leadership qualities. • Full-time ECCC student.
