Warriors fall in state finals

The East Central Com– munity College Warriors reached the finals of the MACJC state baseball tour- nament at from 1 a ~ ks 0 ~ ' s combined reports weekend before falling 11-7 to Hinds in the first champi– onship game. The Warriors had to beat 'Hinds twice Saturday to cap– ture the state championship, but the Eagles were not to be denied their first state title since 1989. "It's (runner-up title) not what we wanted or what the players wanted...but we are still appreciative of the suc– cess we had in the tourna– ment," said ECCC bead coach Neal Holliman. "We missed too many scoring opportunities against Hinds," said Holliman, refer– ring to the 18 runners left on base and 12 walks allowed by Eagle hurlers. "But I'm really proud of the effort put forth by our guys ...we are playing like a championship team."
