ECCC Diamond Warriors sweep Southwest Success contmues for the

seven-inning matchup without allowing a hit or run in the final stanza.

In the second conte-.t, Dar– maal Moore of Stone County and Vmcent Kortbawi. a product of Hale County High School in Moundville, Ala.. each homered and collected three RBh apiece to lead the EC offen,:,e. Ernie Triplett of Louisville contnbuted two singles and one RBI. Other sluggers included Hill. double and one RBI; and Tabb. Long and Lawson, singles each. Starter Colton Mitchell was the winning pitcher. Mitchell, a freshman southpaw from Lake, allowed two earned runs on four hits through four innings. He also fanned four batters and walked two. Southpaws Willard Bacon of Choctaw Central and Austin Buchanan of Neshoba Central and Tabb, a right-ban– der, hurled an inning each.

East Central Community Col– lege baseball team. which improved to 22-6overall follow– ing a doubleheader sweep of Southwest Mississippi Commu– nity College Saturday at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur. A six-run fiflh-inning pro– pelled EC to a 10-4 victory in the opener, and the Diamond Warriors jumped out to a quick 9-2, third-inning lead in the nightcap and coasted 9-3 to complete the sweep. Donnie Tabb of Neshoba Central homered and had two RBTs to lead the EC offense m the first game. In the opener, East Central let an early 3-0 lead slip away as the Lady Wolves rallied to force extra innings and pushed across the winning run in the eighth inning. The Lady Diamond Warriors managed just three hits in the loss, a three-run homer by Lee, a double by Nicholas and single from Holsen. Taylor Bailey took the loss on the mound, allowing three earned runs on 12 hits. Bailey also fanned four batters and walked two.
