Rigdon retiring as ECCC Nurse After serving more than 28 years, Gloria Rigdon is ready to begin a newphase in her life. in the future.

"One of the funniest things (after the fact) that ever happened was being on the switchboard the morning the bomb threat was called in. I received the caU stating, "There is a bomb on campus." I stated, 'Well that's great. What a wonderful way to start a Monday (thinking it was a joke). The young man was caught off guard with such a reply and said, "Lady, I am serious." Needless to say, I quickly respondedby calling Dr. (Eddie) Smith (former College President). Everyone was moved to the football field, except guess who? Me! I sat there a few min– utes and thought there is something wrong with this picture. I then depart– ed to the football field. There was no bomb, after all." Now that her career at EC is about to end, Rigdon offered the following thoughts: "East Central has been good to me. I will alwaysbe eternallygrateful for the friends and opportunities afforded me through the years. "

In r eflecting on her time at EC, Rigdon, who was a graduate of the first nursing class in EC's history, said she has many fond memories. "There are manymem– ories about EC that I will hold on to forever," she said. "I ~ill remember the many faculty, students and staff, who I have grown to love through the

ter- "God, family, friends and work" "I just felt like it was time to step out on faith and do something different," Rigdon said. '"I am looking at retire– ment as the next chapter in my life. I surely hope it is a great one. The end of the book is getting close!" Although .she said she has enjoyed her career, Rigdon said she is looking forward to traveling and spending more time with family. Rigdon is retir– ing from East Cenh·al, although, she plans to continue workin.g as a nurse

years. It has been a privilege to have worked with Ovid and Carol Vickers, Lucille Wood, Alice Pouncey and Leann Scoggin, just to name a few. I have fond memories that will be with me always. " Rigdon, whose career at ECCC began in 1982, credits a.dmi.nistrators and her co-workers for her success. "I could never begin to repay Dr. Eddie M. Smith, Ms. Barbara Deaton and Ms. Nancy Harris for what they did for me," Rigdon said.
