EC teams make debuts The East Central Community College Warriors and Lady Warriors both won two of their first from three basketball games of . the 2010-11 season in last combmed week's action. reports Coahoma 68 EC women 64 Odom is a 5-foot-8 sophomore forward from Scott Central. Ja'Monica Orton missed a game- tying shot in the final moments with EC trailing 66-64 and Coahoma's Ciara Morgan later drained two free throws for a four-point advantage as the Lady Tigers escaped with a 68-64 victory in EC's season opener at Clarksdale on November 1. Orton, a 6-foot freshman guard from Dayton, Ohio, led the Lady Warriors with 20 points. EC, 0-1, also got nine points each from Shana Ward and Inessa Adams, eight from Kurlysha Bell, and six from Quentinette Odom. Tia Nunnally bad 19 points to lead Coahoma. EC men 89 Coahoma 70 Kenneth Barlow of Scott Central pumped in 27 points and Curtis Loving of Harlem, N.Y., added 25 in leadingEC to a 19-point thrashing of Coahoma in the season opener at Clarksdale cam– pus on November 1. EC. 1-0, also got 11 points from Anthony Nieves, seven from Thomas Straughter, six from Keondre Hodges of Newton, and five from Jordan Smith. Tony Payne tallied 20 points to lead the Tigers. EC held a 35-27 advantage at half- time. EC women 52 Holmes 39 Quentinette Odom had 10 points to lead the EC women, who improved to 1- 1 with Thursday's win at Goodman.

Kenneth Barlowpumped in 15 points to lead the Warriors, as they improved to 2-Q with Thursday's win at Goodman. Anthony Nieves and Curtis Loving both scored 11 points, Keondre' Hodges of Newton and Kegan Houston both had seven, and Thomas Straughter added five. Curtis Bailey had 18 points to lead Holmes, 0-3. EC held a 25-22 advantage at half- time. ECwomen 70 East Mississippi 65 Shana Ward's two free throws \vith 36.1 seconds left gave EC a five-point lead and the Lady Warriors held on to win by that margin Saturday afternoon in Decatur. The Lady Warriors trailed by as many as 11 points early, but tr'immed the · deficit to 38-34 at halftime. Ja'monica Orton had 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead EC, 2-1. Quentinette Odom scored 18 points and Ward had 11. East Mississippi 90 EC men 57 The Warriors suffered their first loss Saturday at Decatur. Chris McLendon led the Warriors, 2-1. with 13 points and six rebounds. Curtis Loving had 12 points and Kenneth Barlow had 10. Deonte Alexander had 18 points to lead the Lions, 2-0. EC trailed 40-2:> at the b1·eak.
