Southwest sweeps EC

Octavia Bearden had 15 points to lead the Lady Bears, who improved to 11-4 and 6-2. EC trailed 30-22 at half– time. Kenneth Thomas, a soph– omore guard from Jackson Provine, had 11 points to lead the Warriors, who dropped to 5-14 overall and 1-7 in the division. Other point makers were Kendall Jackson with 10, Antonio Grace and Jonathan McLenden with eight each, and Shelton Banks, Keondre Hodges, and Elijah Tanksley with six each. P.J. McCray of McComb poured in 13 points to lead Southwest, which improved to 3-12 and 3-5. The score was tied 34-34 at halftime. EC squads will host Gulf Coast Thursday night. Women's action begins at 6 p.m. followed by the men's contest at 8 p.m.

East Central Community College basketball squads continue to from stmggle in school M_A.C.JC South .reports Dtvtston compe- tition as the Lady Warriors and Warriors dropped deci- sions to Southwest Mississippi Community College Thursday oigbt in Decatur. EC's women were clipped 71-61 by the Lady Bears and the Warriors were outscored 68-61 by the Southwest men. Sophomore guard Daniellc Cole of Philadel– phia pumped in 15 points to lead the Lady Warriors, who fell to I0-9 overall and 2-6 in league play. Also scoring were Yolanda Jones with 15, Hannah Lee with 14, Demetna Slocum with seven, and Shantel Neely with six. Lee led the team in rebounds with 12.
