Local East Central students named to NJCAAAcademic All-American Team

Eleven East Central Community College sru– dent-athletes have been named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic All-Americans for 2009-10. Eight student-athletes qualified as NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-Americans for main– taining a 3.8 grade point average or above, and include tennis players Abby McMillan and Elise Gibbs, both of Newton, and Jason Hancock of Decatur; softball and basketball player Hannah Lee of Philadelphia; softball player Brittney Cochran of Hickory; and soccer team members Brandy Greer of Carthage, Mamie Shannon of

Philadelphia and Jared Mullins of Tupelo. Student-athletes chosenNJCAAAcademicAll– Americans, those with at least a 3.6 grade point average, include football player Jordan Vance of Decatur, soccer team member Alanna Fairchild and golfer Griffin Burke, both of Philadelphia. To qualify as NJCAA Academic All– Americans, srudent-athletes must have completed three semesters ofcollege work and participated in at least one athletic season.
