ECCC newspaper staff receiveS awards DECATUR-- East Central Community College's student newspaper, The Tom-Tom. was among the top student newspapers m the state recognized during the O.C. McDavid Journalism
Conference held March 26 at the Ag & Forestry Museum in Jackson. East Central students earned six awards in the Mississippi Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest in the Commumty and Junior College Divis10n, including, three second place and three third place a\\ards. Receiving second place honors '"'ere Zachary Eaves, Best General News Story; Tyler Watkins, Best General News Photograph; and Anthony Williams, Best Cartoon. Awarded third place honors were Shaun Cooper, Best General Interest Column; Zachary Eaves, Best Investigative Package; and The Tom-Tom staff, Best Design. Newspaper staff members attended the conference along with community colleges and universi– ties throughout the state.
