DECATUR - Derrick Cade rambled for 172 yards on 22 carries and helped lead East Central Community College to a 27-24 decision over Holmes Communi() Col– lege Thursday night in Goodman for the War– riors' first victory of2009. Cade, a 5-9, 220-pound running back and product of Tuscaloosa (AL.) Interim head coach Brian Anderson, who was doused with Gatorade commemorating his first win as the Warrior leader, complimented his squad's efforts, which follows a 32-3 1 disappointing loss to visiting Coahoma in the season opener. EC appeared in control of the non-division match-up and led 31-12 at halftime. "It was a hard-fought, old fashion football game," said Anderson, who also serves as offen– sive coordinator. "I think it was a great team win. The defense carried the offense in the first half and into the second half unti I the offense got rolling. The offensive line and running backs really toted the mail and carried us down the field several times. It is great to have situations like that when the pressure is on and we need to main– tain ball control and that's what we did.·· Warrior quarterback Emmanuel Taylor abo had a productive evening, as he thre\\ touchdmm pass– es of 28 and nine ) ards to wide receiver Anton1o Ricks and scored on a one– yard plunge
