Larry B. Therrell Scholarship established at East Central

A ~eholarship in memory of Larry B. Therrell \Hls recently established at East Central Commu– nity C< llcgc in Decatur. Thtrrell\ fom1er studenb and players began the annual award. which honors the former high school administrator. coach and teacher credited \\ ith beginning Leake Academy's athletic pro– gram. 'fberrcll began his tenure at Leake Academy in 1970 a' social studie~ instructor and high school prindpal. According to the scholarship deo;crip– tion. there were no plans for athletics at the school's inception but because of Therrell's "strong multiple sport higli school and college background.'' he soon found a way to begin the "now accomplished" Leake Academy athletic program.
