ECCC's Sutphin to serve oll southern college commission

and universities. The commission sets standards for approximately 800 col– leges through the southern United States. As a commissioner, Sutphin will help formulate the accreditation poli– cies and forward proposed accredita– tion changes on standards to member institutions. Sutphin said he was "honored" to have been elected to the Commission and would do his best to represent the interests of Mississippi's secondary educational institutions, as well as workjng for the interests of SACS member institutions. In his first official duty, Sutphin will participate in a new commissioner orientation this May in Atlanta.

DECATUR- Dr. Phil Sutphil, pres– ident of East Central Community College has been elected to serve on the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' (SACS) Commission on College. Sutphin, along with Dr. Scott Elliot of Meridian, were elected to the com– mission by the College Delegate Assembly in the annual meeting of SACS, which took place in San Antonio last month. SACS, based out of Decatur, GA, is a commission responsible for estab– lishing standards on regional accredita– tion through continual and periodic evaluations for its member colleges
