ECCC golf team cards 8th place East Central Community College's golf team tied for eighth place in the Region 23/MACJC Golf Tournament held April 28-29 at Forest Country Club. East Central served as host for the tournament. The Warrior linksters card– ed a 637 total in the two-day event, th'e same score as Northeast Mississippi Commu– nity College. Northeast claimed the Divi– sion III title. Alex Deason of Philadelphia led EC with a 155 (79-76) total, followed by Chase Ward of Sylacauga, Ala., 158 (82-76), Stephen Poole, 164 (85-79) and Kyle Killens, 164 (82-82), both of Decatur; and Daniel John– son of Union, 165 (81-84). James Moore, golf professional at Forest Country Club, serves as ECCC golf coach. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College won the region and state titles with a 587 total. Bulldog golfer Matt Hungerman posted rounds of 68 and 72 (140) on the par 71 course to capture medalist honors. Coach Tommy Snell was named Coach of the Year. Meridian Community Col– lege finished second at 589.
